The present vintage print by Astrid Kirchherr depicts four young boys on a street in Liverpool. Kirchherr created with her pictures a number of valuable documentations of the cultural and contemporary history of the 20th century.

The print is verso signed with pencil ‘Astrid Kirchherr‘. The image size is 24.2 x 30.6 cm and the size of the sheet is 25,5 x 32,2 cm. The work has been matted with four photo corners. The passe-partout is additionally signed with pencil lower left ‘Astrid Kirchherr’.


Astrid Kirchherr (b. 1938)

Astrid Kirchherr was born in Hamburg in 1938. In 1960 she finished her studies at the fashion, textile, graphic and advertising Institute in Hamburg. In the same year she met the Beatles in a nightclub in St. Pauli and became their first professional photographer. The German magazine ‘Der Stern’ commissioned Kirchherr in 1964 to document the Beatles during their shoot for the video ‘Yeah, Yeah, Yeah’. Kirchherr’s photograph on the album cover ‘Wonderwall Music’ by George Harrison is known as the last published works of the artist. Her photographic documentations on the Beatles are some of the most iconic images worldwide and have been published in countless books and magazines. (cbo)
